I think I might have actually exhausted British TV cookery programmes. They have been the background noise to my life for the last 20 or so years and now I find myself actually a bit fed up and no longer inspired by them.
Cue American cookery programmes to save the day! Now I have always loved the Barefoot Contessa but now I am obsessed with all of you! The Pioneer Woman and Molly Yeh are my new BFFs and Sofia loves them both too so that's an absolute bonus!
This new wave of inspiration has been lovely and we have had some really exciting dinners recently, almost all a resounding success! The biggest success is most definitely the Cheeseburger Salad... WOW! This was so, so good! The burger bun croutons fried in the bacon fat were a triumph. You can find the recipe here!
When watching I guess you could say more 'Southern' shows, I became fascinated with Hot Dishes and decided to try my own. Now my Dad and Husband were around for this particular experiment so I was really nervous and tried to hide my Campbell's Condensed Mushroom Soup when making it to avoid the inevitable looks of horror that would follow however it was a success!! Finding frozen star shaped potatoes (in Tesco!) was also a cute bonus and I instantly had Sofia on my side! You can find my recipe here!
I also realllly wanted to make cornbread muffins. Cornmeal has had varying results in our home (the dumplings were not nice - probably more my fault) however the cornbread muffins were insanely good! They were light as air and provided the perfect little snack whenever someone needed tiding over to dinner or a little something before bed! You can find their recipe here!
It's been so nice to feel inspired again, it's been a while! As I type this I am in bed with yet more American cookery programmes on in the background (along with Sofia in bed next to me, she should be asleep but she's asking me if we can make our own fruit rolls but with chocolate in them to make them more delicious... I'm trying to focus on typing this but constantly and not unsurprisingly losing my train of thought and at this exact moment worrying slightly what I am absentmindedly agreeing to as Sofia babbles away next to me) gaining more and more inspiration so watch this space for more exciting recipes to come! P.S - I'm still working on my fried chicken, it's an art but I'm getting there!
