Christmas Countdown (4 weeks to go)

Less than a month to go, the big day is definitely creeping up on us and I don't know about you but I am feeling so excited! I'm a December baby so I think that's half the reason I love this month and the other half of me absolutely loves the gift giving! It's so lovely to receive nice gifts but the feeling of giving nice gifts is so much better especially when you feel you have got someone something you know that they will absolutely love!

I have actually gone quite big on giving people advent calendars this year! So not technically a gift to open on the big day but it's a gift that keeps on giving, how bad can that be! Both our Gran's are receiving one this year, mine is getting a flavoured coffee one and my husband's is getting a lovely jam one! For kids you can get some brilliant ones, we've gotten our little girl a Lego one this year and we are looking forward to building it with her bit by bit, day by day!

Gift giving doesn't have to be big or extravagant, as I type this I can speak for most people and say that this is going to be another tough year. We've endured a few years of COVID meddling with our festive plans and now that's buggered off we are all crippled with the prices of energy bills and don't even get me started on the price of everything in the supermarkets... So I've listed a few ideas below that won't break the bank but will most certainly put a smile on someone's face!

One of my favourite gifts to give is a lovely pot from the garden centre or reclamation yard filled with soil and bulbs. I've done a few of these this year and I think they make such a wonderful gift (as long as you explain there are bulbs hiding under the soil!) again they aren't quite a gift for the 'big day' however they are a gift which will be enjoyed in the coming months... I have also done a few this year with cyclamen in the top for instant colour!

......

Now on to the best kind of gifts... EDIBLE ONES!!

My favourite gifts to give are my mincemeat fudge (so yummy and easy) and my gingerbread biscuits! Both of these keep very well not that this would matter because I can guarantee they will be devoured almost instantly!

I shall link both my recipes below for you!

For wrapping this year we have tired to go as eco conscious as possible by buying a big roll of quality brown paper and some lovely glittery pens and we are going to decorate our own! It keeps Sofia (and me!) entertained for hours just doodling away! As I've saved so much money on wrapping paper, I've invested in some fancy ribbon to decorate and for the person receiving the gift to save and use again!

Thank you once again for reading my blog! I'll be back next week with a post dedicated to festive recipes you might need for the big day!
